I don't know what you take me for

I love rainy days. LOVE. I love fall. Let's face it, I'm morose. I'm the queen of sad bastard music. I thought. I tried to make 3 different mixes. At first, songs for rainy days. Fail. Ooh, nostalgia? Nope. Um...ska? Are you serious? So I decided that I'd make a top 5 list. Top 5 songs of my top 5 favorite artists. One problem. I'd really like ya'll to be able to get your hands on these songs easily. So Cory Branan only has 2 released albums. Not counting the 2 live shows I have of Cory and Ben Nichols, I have 32 songs that I did some pretty unsavory things to get. Ok, not really...but it makes a better story. My top 5 is very fluid anyway, so I inserted Sage Francis. I love Sage. I have his lyrics tattooed on my arm. That's love. Of course, I also have a Lucero album/song name on my ribs and my wrists were inspired by Cory Branan...the point is...the only actual lyrics I have are Sage...so it's not like he wouldn't make my top 5. Basically these are the artists I never get sick of. I'm never not in the mood for these songs. This is my audiobiography. Anyway...enjoy.

And now for something completely different

I let the new iTunes tempt me today and I tried out the Genius playlist function. Far from perfect, but interesting. The list is based off Alkaline Trio - Southern Rock. Notice half the list is either solo Trio members, or their side projects. There's even a Trio cover snuck in there. Genius? I vote for cheater. Anyway, I'm feeling a little peeved today and that usually means Trio, Moneen or Sage. I'm also still a little morose, so we went for Trio. That's one of my favorite songs ever. Someday I have an awesome rib piece planned out. I just don't know if I can live through another rib tattoo. Well, the event that will trigger it anyway. So, what do you think of the new Genius playlist feature? I'll tell you right now, the recommendation feature is going to land me in the poor house. Sigh.

...but I wanna make sure

So Blogger and I had a slight misunderstanding yesterday. Blogger was convinced my blog was spam. Amusing as I'm pretty sure no one reads it. Anyway, to avoid further issues, and because I'm just not happy with having to tweak my playlists, for the time being, I'll just be posting lists. Most songs are available on iTunes. So go listen to them that way. Buy them, hell, you may already own them. In any case, I'm looking for a new system. Suggestions are welcome. Feeling kind of mellow and folky today. Loving the gorgeous weather here. Fall is upon us, I couldn't be happier.

The Bird And The Bee - Again & Again
Rogue Wave - Eyes
Drag the River - Beautiful & Damned
Emily Jane White - Time On Your Side
Haley Bonar - Queen of Everything
ADELE - Hometown Glory
Neko Case & Her Boyfriends - South Tacoma Way
The New Amsterdams - Lonely Hearts
Okkervil River - Maine Island Lovers
Old Canes - 7th Fret Closer

The band that started it all

I'm lazy today, it was a late night. You'd think after sitting through Cheap Trick, Heart and Journey I could come up with a personal best of 70's rock. Well, I didn't. You're stuck with the easy out today. Enjoy Mr Nichols and Co.

I wanna see it when you find out what comets, stars, and moons are all about

Dear Playlist.com,

You kind of suck. You won't let me upload my own music, force me to rework my playlists based on your limited selection and now you won't show up on my blog unless you use the pop out player. I hate you.

This is a strange mix. I think my inspiration was...inspiration. I'm trying to pull myself out of a funk. I need inspiration in a lot of parts of my life. It's indie heavy but the touches of folk make it sort of disjointed in a way. If you listen to the whole thing, you'll know what I'm trying to say. I hope.

Feeling a little brokenhearted when I pulled this one together. There were some substitutions due to playlist.com not having all the songs I wanted and my laziness in refusing to upload them.
